ok we need better communication methods, in the description of the edit u said it was a result of discussion with sarduin... who is sarduin lol? why doesn't he register on this forum?

so I'm either proposing something like a mailinglist, or a chatroom with offline messages, cuz it's better if we can discuss these things

problem with a forum again is that it's hosted by someone, plus it is not very fast...

There may be another issue - I think this forum only allows NC customers to post here. (Check with the mods to be sure.)

I was going to sugguest using Twitter with a hash-tag of #ncsource, but someone will forget to add the #ncsource in their tweets. (And 160 chars may not be enough either!)

Sarduin is a good friend of mine who has played Neocron for a long time. He and I have been talking on the phone and have often discussed a re-make of Neocron, long before our current efforts. So, he's knowledgable about the subject and an avid gamer.

I did post a disclaimer at the beginning of the Wiki article stating that nothing was set in stone and that gameplay wasn't set either.

I posted it to get an idea on "paper" and kick start the discussion process. I think everyone should have an input and then our dev team pours through the responses and develops a gameplay that is possible and suits the game.

I'll continue what I have so far, especially the gameplay mechanics so that we can start hashing out the details.

ye ofc, like i said in the last post, it's mostly miscommunication, the disclaimer in the changelog is not very apparent so I'd prefer if we could actually communicate so all people know, mal and me have discussed quite a bit of things in game, while we've never even talked to sarduin, which imho should change, we need to communicate, especially on things like gameplay and core mechanics.

Consider him beaten over the head until he posts in here. He reads the forums 4+ times a day, but for whatever reason, doesn't post anything.

What is a better way to communicate? Forums seem like the best way for us, being scattered across the globe. I had PMed some folks with a forum that I had setup long ago for something else, but had added a forum for NC: S. If you guys want to use it, I can distribute it to the members of our dev team for our use in development. If there is something else, like a chat room software or something, I'd be up to using that. Just let me know.

Ok, so lets set up a mailing list like a normal open source/ community project

- Everyone is instantly notified via email when a new message is sent (obviusly)
- Someone joining later can download old messages
- Fast, friendly, always on.

Sound good?

I set up a list:

view list info/download archive: ncs.g0dsoft.net

list address: ncs@ncs.g0dsoft.net

sign up for the list here: http://ncs.g0dsoft.net/listinfo.cgi/ncs-g0dsoft.net

Then once you are a subscriber all you need to do is send an email to ncs@ncs.g0dsoft.net with your discussion and we are good to go!

I have set it up to require confirmation and approval to subscribe (to prevent random bots from infesting the list).

If/when we get a neocron themed domain we can move the list.

hey guys..

i am nothing to do with the NC:S project but iff you would like i
can set you up a forum or somthing that way iff you do want one
it is not bound to any one member of the project...
it can even be a shout box of sorts iff you like though i would have
to look into that one ..
i have a web serv er that does not do much atm so it is no biggie
well the offer is made..

Keep up the stunnin work i carnt wait to play it
